August Kits and Reveal

Alright ladies, I really need to get back into the swing of this blogging thing. Coming up this fall, when I get a new DT, I'm going to enlist their help in doing this, so we do have some great things planned for the site and this blog. But for now, you're all stuck with me. Anyway, I have been very remiss in putting the August kits on the blog, and they are fabulous. The sugar kit is probably my favorite kit I've put togeAlign Centerther yet and maybe even my favorite kit that Scrapdango has ever had since I started with them over 2 years ago. Of course, this is personal opinion, but I do love it. I loved it so much that I even made an add-on to go with the sugar kit. So here they are:

August Sugar Kit Featuring
Echo Park Walk in the Park

Sugar Kit Add-On

August Spice Kit Featuring
Little Yellow Bicycle Pack Your Bags

Both of these kits are in the store on pre-order until August 25th. If you are not a subscriber, you can order them for just $30 rather than the normal $33.00 price for one kit, or you can get both kits for the member price of $28.50 each or $57.00. These kits will be shipping on the 25th.

The design team has revealed their projects using the August kit, and you can see all of them in the slideshow above. Here is just a sampling of some of their fabulous designs.

Freaky Friday!

Well at some point during the week, I actually manage to post. This week it wasn't until Friday, but, hey, I've been busy putting kits together to get ready to ship and planning a 4 year old's birthday party.

I do have quite a bit of stuff that I wanted to share with you. First off, is LOTW. This is actually spanning over a couple of weeks since I was so late in posting this week, so I will pick 2 layouts. Besides the DT reveal of the layouts they did with this month's kits (which were fantastic), there have been some great projects posted by other Dangos in the gallery.

First up, I have this super cute layout by Krystle. Just love the series of photos of her adorable little girl enjoying ice cream.

And 2nd, here is one by Nessa. I just love the bright "sunny" colors and this is a great preview of the sugar kit to come in August. ;) I just think this whole layout is "Dog"gone cute. :)

Next up, I want to profile the July guest designer. This gal has been such an integral part of the Scrapdango boards for the past few months. She keeps us all in stitches and keeps things lively. She also shared some fabulous projects that she did with the sugar kit this month. Our July guest designer is Lisa Elliot, but she goes by Sharpie on the boards. Here is her bio:

Hi Everyone!
My name is Lisa Elliot but I'm better know on the board as Sharpie. I used to be on the Scrapdango site a few years ago but I strayed... ~hanging head in shame~ Now I'm back FULL FORCE!! That's me, that's just the way I roll! I love having fun with my peeps on the Dango board.

My scrapping style of over 8 years of scrapping is a non-style. A little of this and a lot of that. The bulk of my layouts are of my daughter, but my I'd have to say my favourite (that's how us Canadians spell it...) layouts to do are about everyday items or random things. I secretly love and horde stickers and I find putting a grouping of flowers on a layout incredibly stressful.

The non-scrappy part of my life is made interesting with my daughter, husband and 2 idiot cats. I also work part time in a retirement home and LOVE the residents and the stuff they get up to. I’ve always got a story or two. A lot of strange or funny things seem to happen to me, it's like I'm a magnet for stupid.

Here is one of my favorite layouts she did with the sugar kit using a sketch by design team member, Carly Gannon. I just love the sun she did and the stitching on it adds an extra special touch.

Now, I have the hard decision of deciding on the August guest designer. Every month, I am blown away by the submissions and have no idea how I'll ever decide. Be sure to check back to see who it will be.

Well until next week (sometime), have a happy, scrappy day. :)

Wacky Wednesday

Wow, this summer is just flying by. I hope that everyone has been enjoying all their summer (or winter if you're in the Southern hemisphere) activities. So many Dangos have been on lots of exciting camping trips and other excursions.

Hopefully amidst all the activity, you are all able to get in a little scrapping and share it with us in the Scrapdango gallery. With L.O.A.D. coming to an end, things have definitely slowed down in the gallery. I only had a couple of pages to look through this past week for LOTW rather than the 15 or 16 I had to look through each week during L.O.A.D. I still found a lot of fabulous creations in the gallery over the past week and the one layout I'm going to share with you today for LOTW was done for the current August GDT contest going on where the challenge is to scrap winter photos using warm colors in the paper and embellishments. You can still complete this challenge for a chance to be the August GDT member and get one of Scrapdango's fabulous kits to work with. You can find all the details here.

Here is the layout I chose this week by Heather (hokieez).
Be sure to check the boards tomorrow for the DT reveal for the July kits. I haven't even seen what they've done and am so excited to see what they've come up with. Also, on the 20th a new sketch will be posted in the forum for the monthly sketch challenge along with each DT members take on it. I will post it here as well. Even though, we're taking a break on big events during July and August, we still have lots going on in the forum, so check it out.

Hope you have a Happy Scrappy Day!!!

L.O.A.D. Wrap-up & Member Monday

Well, June is long gone along with half the year, and so is our Layout a Day (LOAD) Contest. It was a fabulous success, and I am so excited that our members had 322 draws for the contest with a draw being a layout, 2 cards or an altered project, so that is a whole lotta creativity going on by the Dango gals during a pretty busy month with the end of school and start of summer.

There was a winner for each week with some fabulous prizes and then an overall winner for one of Scrapdango's fabulous past kits. The winner's were:

Week #1 - Rebecca (mamakven)
Week #2 - LisaM
Week #3 - Cheri
Week #4 - Kimmy (lostinadream)
and the BIG WINNER was
Sandy (shykiwi)

We will be taking the rest of the summer off from our big events to give our design team and members a chance to just enjoy the summer (or winter if you live on the other side of the world). We will still be doing the weekly DT challenges and monthly sketch challenges along with lots of other fun stuff on the boards, but we won't be doing any big contests. But join us in September when we will be coming back strong with our School's In contest, which was a huge event last year with lots of inspiration, fun and of course, prizes. We will still be doing guest designer contests throughout the summer. The August Guest Designer Contest is going on right now and your entry for that is due by July 20th, so hop on over to the boards and see what you have to do and you may be the next guest designer and get to work with one of Scrapdango's awesome sugar or spice kits.

So now for our Member Monday where I highlight some standout projects in the gallery over the past week. I apologize that I forgot to do this last week. I didn't so much forget as it just didn't get done. It was going to be another Terrific Tuesday and then when I missed that, I thought maybe a Wacky Wednesday but then after that I just gave up.

Anyway, it's still Monday here on the West Coast for about an hour and a half, so here are my picks this week for Member Monday. I chose 4 in honor of the 4th of July weekend.
This first one is by one of our LOAD winners, Cheri. I just love the photo, and she put so many different patterns of paper together, but they all work together so well. The title is fabulous too.

This one is by one of our past design team members, Ginni, and I just loved how she used the April Bo-Bunny Mama-razzi kit. She did a great take on the title and added a lot of her signature bling.

Here is one by Kelly (kcflorida) that I just think is so adorable. I love all the bright colors on teh white, and those flowers and little shoes are just too cute.
Here is one by Kim (karennie34) that I just think is fantastic. Love how she arranged the photo under the rolled back paper along with all those cool flower accents scattered all around.

Two-fer Tuesday

I just can't seem to get this posted on Monday for Member Monday, so today I am bringing you Two-fer Tuesday. As with the past two weeks, I could really pick a half dozen layouts and cards as stand-outs for the week, but I am forcing myself to just limit it to two because otherwise it takes me way to long to post this, and I really have to put my kits together and get them ready to ship on Friday.

So I have chosen two layouts that just WOWed me over the past week.

This one by Laura (AngelBear) is one of my favorites of hers (they really all WOW me). I just can't believe that she mananged to once again pull off this vintage style with all those flowers on a boy layout. And that photo is just amazing.

This one by Kim (karennie34) just makes me happy. I love the red, white, blue color combo whether in a patriotic layout or not and this is done perfectly on the kraft paper. And the flags across the top are just the perfect touch.

Congrats gals on being chose as the Two-fer Tuesday Dangos and be sure to check the forum and gallery for so many more projects being cranked out during the June Layout A Day contest. Also check out the design team reveals for the June kits. They did a fabulous job.

The June kits are shipping this Friday and you can still get one for a reduced price for the June Pre-order special until June 30th.

Terrific Tuesday!!!

Wow, there is so much to blog about at Scrapdango.  It is already June 15th and L.O.A.D. is still going strong.  The Dangos have been getting so much scrapping done.  The gallery is full of all the gorgeous layouts and cards that everyone has been doing.  It is my honor once again to pick the LOTW for the belated "Member Monday."  Like last week, with so many great projects, I couldn't pick just one.

I loved this layout by LisaM.  I love including handwriting from my children and this is a great example, and I love all the "leafy" elements in this layout about a tree.

This is a fabulous 2-pager with yet another wonderful example of a child's handwriting by our former design team leader extraordinare, Julie (lexea). Also love the handprint for yet another personal touch.

Here is a fabulous card by Jan. That owl is just the cutest thing and absolutely love the colors for this sweet 16 card.

Here is another terrific layout by the uber talented Audrey (audreykit). I have probably mentioned before how much I love banners, and this is a fabulous example of those as well as the super cute cupcake and the adorable photo. And I am really lovin' the light blue, red, white and pink color combo like in the last card. Hmmm, think I need to do somethig with this combo. ;)

Here is a "Fun" layout by Cheryl (chillycharlie). Love the placement of the photos--just like going down that slide. Love the cluster of embellies in the bottom left.

Cheri is a newer member of Scrapdango, brought here by the L.O.A.D. event, and I truly hope she sticks around when it's over. She has uploaded a whole bunch of layouts over the past week that are all worthy to be LOTW picks, but I chose this one. Love the border around it with the differerent pp's and the stitching, and I think it is always important to document why we do what we do.

Sharpie (her real name is Lisa, but we call her Sharpie on the boards) is one of our most vocal and fun members. She, along with her mom, Audrey, really keep the boards hopping and laughing. I love this layout and how she documented photos of her daughter over the years in the same spot. Even though the large photo making up most of the background, isn't the best quality, it is fantastic. Also love her simple and elegant title.

In addition to all the great projects by all the members, the design team has also been busy with the June kits and they revealed their designs today. You can find the sugar and spice reveals on the boards today, and I will be uploading them to the blog and homepage soon. I did reveal the kits last week. These are by far my favorite kits I have done since taking over Scrapdango in February. Many of the design team members felt the same. They are both perfect for 4th of July (if you're from the U.S.) or other summer layouts and so much more. When you see the DT reveals, you will see that the kits are extremely versatile. The sugar kit I think was used for more boy layouts and even a Christmas layout. I have some great specials going on right now if you want to subscribe to either kit (or both) or if you want to pre-order (before June 30th) either of these kits for a reduced price. You can read about the specials here. They will begin shipping on June 25th.

July Sugar Kit ~ Featuring Lily Bee Hello Sunshine

July Spice Kit ~ Featuring Glitz Kismet

We still have two weeks of L.O.A.D. left and you can still get in one one of the weekly prizes or the chance to win one of Scrapdango's full kits at the end of the month. Congratulations to the winner of Week 1, Rebecca (mamakven) who won the Crate Paper Mia collection kit. The prize for Week 2 is a partial March sugar kit with paper from the Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage line and cardstock to match and some of the embellies included in the original kit. It is still jampacked with lots of scrappy goodness. I will be announcing the winner of Week 2 soon along with the prize for Week 3.

Hope you all have a wonderful scrappy week. :)

June L.O.A.D. in Full Swing

Well, we are one week into our June L.O.A.D. (layout a day) event, and it is going strong. The Dangos are getting some serious scrapping done, and the results are amazing. If you haven't signed up for the L.O.A.D. contest, it's not too late. You can still try to get a layout a day done and be eligible for the 3 remaining weekly prizes as well as the final prize at the end of a full size Scrapdango kit. Just so ya know, the prize for this week is amazing. It is a Crate Paper Mia collection kit.

I also wanted to announce the Member Monday Layout of the Week, but with so many fabulous layouts, cards and albums being posted, it was just too hard to pick just one, so here are a few that stood out to me in the gallery over the past week.

CelesteB always has so many great layouts documenting all her travels (that girl gets around), and they are all fabulous. This is just one example of many that kinda sums up her travelling.

Suzann has been away from Scrapdango for awhile but has joined us for LOAD (so glad she did) and has posted some fabulous layouts. Here is one about a difficult time in her and her husband's life, but she is documenting it beautifully. She used the April sugar kit for this featuring the Crate Paper Brook. She said she liked this line for the hospital pics because the turquoise blue/green in the papers matched the hospital scrubs.

AngelBear (Laura) is another previous Dango who has found us again and is gracing us with her presence on the boards as well as her talent in the gallery. She has a gorgeous vintage style, which I can't even hope to reproduce. I love that she always can pull this style off even with boy photos. This photo and the title with all the papers and elements she used is just perfection.

Audrey (audreykit) is a recent guest designer here at Scrapdango and has amazed us with her talent since co-winning Crowned in February. Here is a fabulous layout she did for the LOAd. I love the misting with the circles, the close up photo and all the buttons on the stars. Just great!

Kimmy (lostinadream) is another amazingly talented Dango. I could've picked any of her projects to include here including an adorable mini album about sushi made with a sushi mat and a chopstick on the cover. But I loved this title page to her DC album. The flowers are just perfect for this and it's just gorgeous.

Jan is another fairly new Dango who describes herself as a cardmaking scrapbooker. She does have some fabulous cards in the gallery, but here is a layout that is equally fabulous. I love the bright colors of the photos and the paper on the white with the white letters and love the butterflies.

Congrats to all the Member Monday picks. There could have been many more, but I couldn't list them all. Be sure to visit the Dango gallery for all the new projects for this week and throughout LOAD.
