Challenge # 8 ~ Fabric

One of the things I love to do to my layouts is add a little extra texture. One of the easiest ways to do this is to add some fabric. I have been known to collect pieces of fabric from my daughters clothes and even their toys. I have doilies that I have used on layouts and projects that my Grandmother left me.

On the following layout I used some sheer sparkle fabric that I saved from Paige's Cinderella doll. It is so delicate and pretty and I just knew I had to use it with the Crate papers. These papers are also so elegant and pretty. I used some of the add on Glitter Die Cuts. The flower die cut on the right actually hangs off of the edge but I lost some of it on the scan.

I used a great family photo a friends of mine took last fall. I loved how it seems perfect suited with the Crate and the fabric.

Challenge #8:

I would like to see you use some fabric on a layout or a card. Please email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Scrapdango Blog Challenge in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for the Maya Mist Duo Pack.

Due Date: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st

Challenge # 7 ~ Notebook

It is time for my next reveal and a challenge!!!

You have made a cute Post it Note Holder now I would like for you to make a Notebook. These papers are so pretty and elegant that I just had to make an altered journal. I bought a Composition Book for $1.99 and I grabbed my Crate Sugar Kit.

I cut the main paper to cover the front of the journal and adhered it. I then picked out one of the wonderful, glitter borders and adhered it along the left side to cover the "seam" to make it look prettier. I used my Chestnut Roan ink and inked the Maya Road letters and spelled out the word "Notes". Next I picked some of the cool Glitter Die Cuts and adhered them on the cover. I wanted the one flower to hang off the side a little. I love to do this!

Challenge:
I would like you to make a Notebook and email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to receive another ballot for the Maya Mists Duo Pack. Yummy prize indeed!! Please put "Scrapdango Blog Challenge" in the subject line.

Due Date: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st
**Check back tomorrow for another challenge and another kit reveal!!

Post It Note Holder Tutorial

DD and I made these adorable Post it Note Holders for her teacher, Ms Debreower who is leaving next week. She wanted us to make something special that she can take with her when she starts her new, permanent teaching position in Goderich. I pulled out the beautiful Crate papers and die buts from the Sugar kit and this is what we did:

Supplies:
scissors
2 patterned papers
coaster or chipboard cut to 4x4
binder clip
Post it Notes
ribbon
die cuts/embellishments (optional)
rub-ons (optional)
adhesives
ink
sanding block

1. Cut your patterned paper to 4x4 .
2. Adhere to your chipboard.
3. Trim around the corners.
4. Sand the edges. Make sure when you sand the edges that you sand downwards. If you were to sand upwards you would rip or tear your paper.
5. Ink if desired.

6. Add die cut border and embellishments.

7. Cut a piece of coordinating paper for your binder clip. Adhere to binder clip. I added a rub on flower.
8. Add ribbon to your binder clip.
9. Clip your Post it Note to your chipboard coaster. Voila!!

Here is the other one we made. They are so quick and simple to make. **You can add a magnet to the back of them so they can stick on the fridge**
Challenge #6:
Your new challenge is to make one of these for yourself or to give as a gift. Please email it to thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Scrapdango Blog Challenge in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for the monthly draw!
Due: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st

Challenge # 4 ~ Word Challenge

I love to issue word challenges. This week's word is:

Beauty

1: the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit : loveliness

2: a beautiful person or thing ; especially : a beautiful woman

3: a particularly graceful, ornamental, or excellent quality

4: a brilliant, extreme, or egregious example or instance

Your challenge is to use this word on your next creation. You can use it as your title, in your journaling or just the subject of your layout.
Here are a couple quotes that you may find inspiring:

A person is only beautiful, when their own beauty, is reflecting on to others. ~Tara Grady
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched ... but are felt in the heart. ~ Helen Keller

Challenge #3 ~ Ad Challenge

One of my favorite challenges are Ad challenges. I actually find I need to put on my thinking cap for these. SO..... go and grab your thinking caps and get creative.

The following Ad came from a fashion magazine. You can really find inspiration everywhere!!

You can use the color scheme of Black and White with a splash of red. Or you can use the quote or even the basic design elements. Have fun and get creative!
For my sample I chose to use the quote. It just seemed to fit well with my layout.

Here is a fun layout I did using my Sugar Kit. I used Ranger Crackle Paint on the chipboard and then highlighted it with Liquid Pearl to give it a beautiful Sheen. Paige looks great in purple.

Please email your creations to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Dango Challenge #3 in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for this months draw of some amazing Maya Mists!
Happy Scrapping!

Tip of the Week

Do you love the look of the Glitter Letter Stickers but hate the thought of spending extra money for them? Why nor create them yourself. All you need is some letter stickers and some Ranger Stickles (or other glitter glue)
Just apply to your letter stickers and viola!! Bling letters.

It is also fun to outline the stickers as well.

Do you love the look of epoxy stickers? Make them yourself!! Just apply Glossy Accents to you stickers and wait for it to dry. Make sure to make an outline of your sticker first then apply the Glossy Accents inside. That way it won't spread.

Challenge #2: Play around and make your own accent stickers. Email them to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the monthly draw!
