Saying Goodbye

Well I actually started posting on Monday and was going to do another Member Monday LOTW pick like I'm supposed to be doing each Monday, but then I got distracted and never finished the post. Our best friends of 10-1/2 years are moving back to California tomorrow :( so I've been very preoccupied with helping them get packed and spending as much time with them as possible before they leave. Tomorrow they will be off and the kids will be back in school, so I will have much more time to devote to this blog and the boards and scrapping in general.

I hadn't done any scrapping in forever until I blasted out a card and a going away present for our friends just a couple days ago, and I think that might've helped get me out of my slump. I actually want to scrap now, which hasn't really happened in awhile. Here is what I did. I decorated a 7Gypsies Artists Printers Tray with photos of our families. As you can see, we were a perfect match with our kids even being the same ages and very close, so it will be very sad to see them go. We know that they will be forever friends though. I have wanted to decorate one of these trays for a long time, but I was feeling very intimidated, but let me tell you that it is so easy. The hardest part was figuring out what papers I wanted to use, but then I dug out this Crate Paper Brook paper from the March (I think) sugar kit and knew that it was what I wanted to use. Then you just gotta cut the papers to fit in the tray and start decorating with whatever items you want. I even finally attempted making a spiral flower like I've admired other people doing for so long. It didn't turn out perfect, and I need to work on it, but I like how it turned out, and my friend was thrilled with it. Also, I'm not sure if you can see the quote I put in one of the spaces. I am not a sappy quote kind of person, but I found one that said, "Make new friends, but cherish the old," and I even had the perfect sticker to use for it, so I was very happy with that. Now I need to get one made for my mother in law that I owed her for her birthday in May, and I think these might be a Christmas present staple this year. :)

Then, I made a card finally using the current August sugar kit, which has been my favorite kit I've put together so far. Just love this Echo Park Walk in the Park paper, and I also put my new Glimmer Mist, which I haven't played with much, to use on the flower. I usually make digital cards that I can just print out, so my friend was surprised to get a card that is "all real" as she put it. And now for some more Scrapdango business. First off, it's been a long time since I've featured a layout from the gallery. My pick for this week is by Krystle. I thought this layout based on the Scrapdango August sketch was just beautiful and a great way to commemorate her anniversary.

Coming Event and Sneak Peeks

Hey all, I cannot believe that it is almost September. Seriously, where has the summer and the year gone?!? I'm actually looking forward to the fall season I have to admit. Around here in the Pacific Northwest, autumn is usually one of our best seasons--warm days with cool, crisp mornings and evenings, beautiful foliage and kids going back to school. I love my kids, but I also love when they go back to school. Shhh, don't tell them. Life doesn't really slow down, but we seem to settle into some kind of normalcy that is comforting to me and very hard to come by in the summer.

I also hope that my scrapbooking can settle into some kind of normalcy because it has been far from it this whole summer and even past spring. I'm really hoping my mojo returns. And what better way to get that mojo to return then with a month long contest with some awesome challenges. Well we have just that coming in about a week at Scrapdango. We hope that you all will join us for the 2nd annual "School's In" contest. We had so much fun doing this last year, that we thought we'd do it again. Here is all the info and be sure to join us in the message board and get signed up. It is going to be so much fun, and you might even learn something. You don't want to miss it.

And speaking of September, I also have sneak peeks of the kits coming in September. The sugar kit is something totally different from what I normally go for, but when I saw it, I really liked it, and I hope you will to.

Sept. Sugar Sneak

The spice kit is from one of my all-time favorite paper manufacturers, and they never disappoint. This kit uses my favorite color combo and just has so much luciousness. I think you will love this one too.

We've got lots of great things coming for September and into fall, so be sure to stay tuned and we hope to see you all on the boards.

Have a Happy Scrappy Day!!!

August Kits and Reveal

Alright ladies, I really need to get back into the swing of this blogging thing. Coming up this fall, when I get a new DT, I'm going to enlist their help in doing this, so we do have some great things planned for the site and this blog. But for now, you're all stuck with me. Anyway, I have been very remiss in putting the August kits on the blog, and they are fabulous. The sugar kit is probably my favorite kit I've put togeAlign Centerther yet and maybe even my favorite kit that Scrapdango has ever had since I started with them over 2 years ago. Of course, this is personal opinion, but I do love it. I loved it so much that I even made an add-on to go with the sugar kit. So here they are:

August Sugar Kit Featuring
Echo Park Walk in the Park

Sugar Kit Add-On

August Spice Kit Featuring
Little Yellow Bicycle Pack Your Bags

Both of these kits are in the store on pre-order until August 25th. If you are not a subscriber, you can order them for just $30 rather than the normal $33.00 price for one kit, or you can get both kits for the member price of $28.50 each or $57.00. These kits will be shipping on the 25th.

The design team has revealed their projects using the August kit, and you can see all of them in the slideshow above. Here is just a sampling of some of their fabulous designs.
