Happy Member Monday!

Hi all!

It's once again time for Member Monday... and this week is no exception, I couldn't choose just one so here are several for your enjoyment.

First up is Megamay's layout, called "What a croc." I just loved the colors in this super cute layout:

Next is HB51's layout, called "Views from the Lake." I loved not only the photos but all of the wonderful accents she chose for Heather L's challenge:

Last, but certainly not least is karennie34's layout called "Our boy." I loved the soft feel of it for her treasured pet:

February Kit Reveal--Sort of

With all the excitement of Crowned coming, I thought I would occupy our time with a little kit reveal game. Rather than reveal the kits all at once, I'm going to post just 1/4 of the kit image each day until you see the full kit. I am starting with the sugar kit because I am still waiting for one piece of the spice kit to arrive tomorrow. So anyway, here is your first closer peek at the February sugar kit.

'Round and 'Round in Circles

Circles -- big or small -- are a fun element to add to your layouts. There are plenty of circle cutting tools or you can just trace a cirle with a plate or pan and hand cut. I even experimented with a stitched circle recently. I like the accent it gave to the layout. Won't you join me in using circles? I'd love to see your layouts with them.

Come Join Us!

Member Monday

With the Library Crop going on there were tons of great layouts in the gallery to choose from this week. It was a tough decision but I have chosen my two favorites, both by Kim (karennie34). This cute layout of her nephew is perfect for the October Afternoon Seaside Collection. I love the darling photo and her design is great also.

And this layout of her nephew's baptism is amazing. That is all hand stitching on the background paper! Great job Kim.

CHA Sneak peeks and more

Well the Winter 2011 Craft and hobby Association show is coming up. There are so many sneak peeks coming right now! We would love for you to check them out and let us know what you think. We have a forum set up for it with many photos! check it out here Do you have a favorite? What is the trend you see emerging? did your favorite company disappoint you or make you happy?

I also thought I would post a couple of little tips I have tried...

* when using liquid pearls to get the pearl shape after you place your pearls lightly tap the bottom of the paper.

*have piece of ribbon or lace you want to dye with your mist? Spray your mist in a baggie and then put your lace in. swish and move your lace around until you have the desired effect. Remove the lace and let dry or dry with your heat gun

* take a bounce sheet and rub it on the area you want to emboss before you stamp and it will stop the embossing powder from sticking where it shouldn't be.

* in a multi photo layout if you want to have a focal-point photo. You can make it stand out by....making it bigger, using pop dots, matting it and not the rest, making it black and white and the rest color (or vica versa) or using a fabulous photo effect!

stamping technique...

Hi ladies!! Today I wanted to share a little stamping technique. I used the gorgeous bird stamp in the Scrapdango January Sugar kit. I'm always a little afraid of using stamps on my layouts because I don't want to mess anything up so my favorite stamping trick is to stamp the image on a piece of the same paper and then to cut the image out...
after the I like to add some foam squares to pop the image up and add some dimension to the layout...
This is a simple but really great technique if you worry about stamping on your projects like I do!! :)

January Kits and Subscription Special!!!

I LOVE these kits for January and am so excited to show them to you. You can see larger photos of the kits and see all the kit contents here.

First off, the sugar kit. I am the first to admit that I am not really a fan of the color pink, so doing a really pink sugar kit is hard for me, but I know that there are a lot of people who are fans of pink and every now and then a sugar kit has to have some pink doesn't it? Well, I thought this kit was the perfect compromise because there is some pink but then also a lot of pretty blues and other colors. I definitely don't think it's overly pink, and I'm even excited to use it. This kit uses new Bella Blvd. Lovey Dovey, but I also added in some My Mind's Eye Lush and Lost & Found. Along with some fantastic embellishments from Pink Paislee, American Crafts, LYB, MME and a super cute stamp from Glitz, I think this is a perfect Sugar kit to start off the new year.

Next up, the Spice kit. This kit features the new Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 line. I LOVE these papers. Add in some super fun and unique embellishments from Canvas Corp. like the canvas and burlap items and the tiny clothespins, some super cute buttons and cool chipboard alpha from Ruby Rock-It and even a bottle of Smooch Spritz in Cherry Ice, and you have one cool and fun kit. This would be a great kit to scrap New Year's stuff.

Finally, I even made a kit add-on this month that can go with both kits. Some of the items are similar to those in the spice kit, but they are all different. The spritz is pink although it looks rather red in the bottle. I am selling this kit for $9.00. It retails for more than that. If you are a subscriber and want the add-on, PM me so that I can reserve you one and add it to your monthly kit payment.

Member Mon...err Tuesday

Okay, well I'm a little late on the Member Monday, but to be fair, there haven't really been many new uploads to the gallery with the holidays. Except for a couple uploads by the design team, LisaM was the only one to upload all last week, but they were all fabulous layouts. My favorite was this one called "Made with Love." Even better was that she used the December Spice kit.

"Made with Love" by LisaM

Now that the holidays are over, hopefully everyone will get back to scrapping and uploading all their creations in the gallery. I certainly hope to do more scrapping this year and want to get a good start in January.
We will be having a crop mid-January to help you get that scrap mojo going. More information will be coming, but it will be from January 14th to 21st. There will be challenges, games, and of course a big prize, so be sure to join us.

In more Scrapdango news, I am running a New Year Subscription Special this month where if you sign up for a 12-month sugar or spice membership in January, you not only get your 13th kit free at the end of the membership as always, but you also get to pick out ANY one of the available past kits (including the Dec. sugar kit--the spice was sold out) for free along with your first kit now. If you want to get both fabulous kits each month and sign up for a 12-month combo membership, you get to choose two past kits for free. If you can't commit to 12 months now but want to do 6 months, I will send you the January add-on kit for free this month. If you would like to sign up, email me (dhlough@comcast.net) with your choice of sugar, spice or combo membership along with your choice of past kit(s) you would like for free and whether you want to pay monthly by Paypal or credit card. I have some fabulous kits planned for the coming months and with new stuff coming out this January at Winter CHA, there will be even more cool stuff in the kits.
