Tip of the Week ~ Challenge #1
I have a great tip to share with you this week.
I have fallen in love with the Variety Pack Baseboard Tiles by Technique Tuesday. Have you seen them? They are white chipboard shapes that you can cover, ink, chalk and distress. They add instant charm and dimension to your page.
BUT….. I don’t use them for that purpose. I use them as templates!! I love the shapes of them and I have found that using them as templates is an affordable way to add interesting lines and elements to your pages. I find that the shaped papers that are all the rage right now are quite pricey! So I made a small investment in some Technique Tuesday Tiles and I am set.
Below are the borders. They are one of my favorites right now. I use them all the time right now.

If you happen to have a tip to share with us please email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Dango Blog in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for the monthly draw.
Challenge #1: Create a layout using a template that you already have in your suppllies or one you have made. Email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Dango Blog in the subject line.

Here is the layout I made using one of the templates:
I have made it easier on myself and used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes in the tiles. I then added a circle clip and hung them on my Clip-it-Up!! Great storage idea!
I also adore the Circles. I can’t bring myself to invest in a pricey circle cutter and I use these as templates as well. Then I just cut the shapes out with either my craft knife or my scissors! If you happen to have a tip to share with us please email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Dango Blog in the subject line. Challenge # 8 ~ Fabric
One of the things I love to do to my layouts is add a little extra texture. One of the easiest ways to do this is to add some fabric. I have been known to collect pieces of fabric from my daughters clothes and even their toys. I have doilies that I have used on layouts and projects that my Grandmother left me.
On the following layout I used some sheer sparkle fabric that I saved from Paige's Cinderella doll. It is so delicate and pretty and I just knew I had to use it with the Crate papers. These papers are also so elegant and pretty. I used some of the add on Glitter Die Cuts. The flower die cut on the right actually hangs off of the edge but I lost some of it on the scan.

I used a great family photo a friends of mine took last fall. I loved how it seems perfect suited with the Crate and the fabric.
Challenge #8:
I would like to see you use some fabric on a layout or a card. Please email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Scrapdango Blog Challenge in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for the Maya Mist Duo Pack.

Post It Note Holder Tutorial
DD and I made these adorable Post it Note Holders for her teacher, Ms Debreower who is leaving next week. She wanted us to make something special that she can take with her when she starts her new, permanent teaching position in Goderich. I pulled out the beautiful Crate papers and die buts from the Sugar kit and this is what we did:

Here is the other one we made. They are so quick and simple to make. **You can add a magnet to the back of them so they can stick on the fridge**
Supplies:
scissors
2 patterned papers
coaster or chipboard cut to 4x4
binder clip
Post it Notes
ribbon
die cuts/embellishments (optional)
rub-ons (optional)
adhesives
ink
sanding block

1. Cut your patterned paper to 4x4 .
2. Adhere to your chipboard.
3. Trim around the corners.
4. Sand the edges. Make sure when you sand the edges that you sand downwards. If you were to sand upwards you would rip or tear your paper.
5. Ink if desired.

6. Add die cut border and embellishments.

7. Cut a piece of coordinating paper for your binder clip. Adhere to binder clip. I added a rub on flower.
8. Add ribbon to your binder clip.
9. Clip your Post it Note to your chipboard coaster. Voila!!

Tip Time ~ Challenge # 23
Let’s talk about scissors. I don’t know about you but I have my very favorite, must have, scissors. I was upset yesterday when my girls used them to cut sticky food with. Yup… they gunked them up so bad that I couldn’t use them. I cracked open my unDu and removed the goo but they were so dull they wouldn’t cut paper anymore. Now I am on the hunt for a replacement pair. I can’t seem to find them anywhere…. at least not yet.
I have several pairs of scissors. I use them for different jobs. My first pair I ever bought were Honey Bees by Cutter Bees. These have a great Teflon coating and work great for cutting through sticky glue dots, double sided tape other such sticky supplies.
When it comes to cutting any type of fabric I have my straight blade and my pinking shears. They work the best for fabric and felt. I find any of my other scissors aren’t sharp enough and snag. Fiskars makes great scissors for cutting through felt and fabric.
I like to work with wire, metal, acrylic and plastic. I have some strong Titanium scissors. They are extremely durable and strong. They seem to cut through anything and remain sharp.
Now… my favorite pair are spring loaded. I adore them because they are extremely comfortable and my hand doesn’t cramp or get sore when I plan on doing either a lot of pages or a lot of fine detailed cutting. They are always sharp and have a fine tip for detailed cutting. Alas…. they are wrecked. *SIGH* My Tim Holtz, Tonic, Spring Loaded, Fine Tip Scissors are sad too.
Quick Tip#1: If you are finding that your scissors are sticky just use a little dab of unDu and it will disappear.
Quick Tip#2: If you find that your scissors aren’t cutting like they did when you first bought them you can cut a sheet of aluminum foil or you can get them sharpened professionally.
Quick Tip #3: If your scissors are getting sticky but not because of goo or glue, you can cut through waxed paper too!! ** this tip was from Ginni. I have just given her a ballot for the draw. Thanks for the tip!**
Blog Challenge:
I would like you to use some decorative scissors on your next layout or card. You can email me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca and please put Scrapdango Blog Challenge in the subject line.
Remember that this month I am offering a cute set of Maya Road Stamps!
